Coco Cay - a Perfect Day
One morning we woke up to this.  We had arrived at Coco Cay, a private island owned by Royal Carribean which also owns Celebrity Cruises.
   
Very colorful.  It looks like fun!  Will this be a perfect day?
   

CocoCay or Little Stirrup Cay, sometimes titled Perfect Day at CocoCay is one of the Berry Islands, a collection of Bahamian cays and small islands located approximately 55 miles north of Nassau.

The island is less than one mile long from east to west and less than 480 yards from north to south.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., which owns Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises, assumed the lease of the island upon acquisition of Admiral Cruises in 1988. In 2019, the island was extensively renovated by Royal Caribbean at the cost of $250 million and renamed Perfect Day at CocoCay.

A pier was constructed on the north side of the island, which allows cruise ships to dock directly instead of using tenders.  A waterpark was constructed on the "thrill" side of the island, with two towers containing waterslides, including North America's tallest. "Daredevil's Peak", and two pools. On the "chill" side is the beach with cabanas.

The east end is the centre of recreational activities with beaches fronting a coral basin where manatees, rays, and numerous fish can be seen.  Nature trails run the entire length and width of the island.

Very few people live full time on the island.  The cruise ship's crew come ashore and staff the bars, food places and attractions.

Launched in 2012, Celebrity Reflection is the fifth, final, and largest Solstice-class cruise ship.  The ship can accommodate 3,046 passengers.
   
Tied up next to Reflection is Royal Caribbean's "Utopia of the Seas", one of the giant Oasis-class cruise ships.  Utopia is less than two years old and can hold 5,668 passengers.

A map of Coco Cay.  We would be heading for the Hideaway Beach area.  We would have so much fun there that we really didn't see the rest of the island.  Will have to come back someday.
   
In this picture you can really see how much larger the Utopia of the Seas than the Reflection.  Utopia is a little taller, but it is so much wider.

A third cruise ship was anchored off shore.  The pier can only hold two ships.  I guess the passengers come in on tenders.
   
Was it a perfect day?  Yes, it was!
